How do I search for books?

Answer

  • Go to the library home page: http://library.alliant.edu. In the center of the page is a search box - use this to look for books and other materials (except journal articles).
  • If you are looking for a particular book, try typing in two or three words from the title, along with the author's last name. You can also type in keywords if you just want to see what the library has on a particular topic. Once you have entered your terms, press Enter or click on Search.

  • If you are having trouble finding what you are looking for, here are some additional tips:
    • If you limited your search to your home library, try all Alliant locations. If you find the book, request from another Alliant library (for help, see "How can I request a book or dissertation from another Alliant library?").
    • If you can't find it in the Alliant system, search LINKplus (for help, see "How can I request items from LINK+ libraries?").
    • If you can't find it in the Alliant system or in LINKplus, you can place an Interlibrary Loan request and the ILL technician will attempt to locate at a non-Alliant, non-LINK+ library (requests can take 7-28 days and most libraries will not loan recently published items.)
