How do I use Rosetta Stone to learn a language through the library?

Answer

Rosetta Stone can be found from the library home page (library.alliant.edu) by clicking Research | Databases | R | Rosetta Stone.

When you first use Rosetta Stone, you will use your library login to get to the Rosetta Stone site, and there you will create a username and password for Rosetta Stone.

Note that you can only change languages at the login screen. If you login, work on language A and then try to switch to language B, it will not work until you log out, and then log back in while specifying language B.

Setting it up on a mobile device is a bit tricky; follow these steps:

  • Download and install the RS app, but do not launch it.
  • Open your mobile browser and go to the library website, choose Research | Databases | R | Rosetta Stone, and log all the way in.
  • After you are logged in and click “launch RS” or something similar, either the app will launch and authenticate automatically, or you will need to launch it manually. It should then be logged in and when you use the app you should not need to log in within the app.
