How can the library help me with the course I am developing?

Answer

  1. Research support - assistance locating articles for course readings
    1. Find specific articles
    2. Search for a category of articles - the library provides a selection from which the SME may choose
  2. Copyright check on all articles selected for use in course
  3. Plagiarism & APA 7th Edition tutorials and quizzes - instructors can assign one or both of these and then ask students to submit their completion certificates in order to receive credit.
    1. Plagiarism tutorial & quiz: https://alliant.libwizard.com/f/Plagiarism
    2. APA 7th Edition tutorial & quiz: https://alliant.libwizard.com/f/APA7_tutorial
  4. Video tutorials - the library can create short videos demonstrating a particular aspect of research, or the instructor can use one of the pre-existing tutorials: https://alliant.libguides.com/Tutorials
  5. Libguides - these are webpages that the library can put together in order to support a particular course or assignment. Sample Libguide: https://alliant.libguides.com/InfoLit
  6. Library instruction - librarians are available to join synchronous class meetings in order to explain how to research the literature. If the class is asynchronous, the library can provide a link to a recorded instruction session.
  7. Book selection - the library can assist with textbook selection. As a way to help students save money, the library can check to see if any of the texts required for the course can be purchased digitally at the institutional level, meaning that all Alliant students and faculty can access them without needing to purchase them individually.
