How do I find a conference paper or a paper from a proceeding?

Answer

For this example we'll use ERIC, the education database. We could just as easily use a different EBSCO database if our topic were different, such as PsycINFO for psychology or Business Source Complete for business.

Start at the library home page and click Research | Databases | E | ERIC

Log in if prompted

At the initial search screen, scroll down to the section called Publication Type.

There are two options in the Publication Type list that you should select. To select both, you need to scroll to the first one and click on it, then scroll to the second one and hold down the CTRL key while clicking on it. The options to select are:

Collected Works - Proceedings

Speeches/Meeting Papers

Next go to the top of the screen and type the search terms in the first box as shown in the screenshot.

Click Search, and you should find some useful results. If not, ask us for help!
